The end of "Cheap Oil in America"

The most dangerous problem that exists in the American economy is the fact that Americans think there is an indefinite supply of oil, and that foolish politics are behind the price surges. While politics may play a minor role in price spikes, nothing could be farther from the truth. The U.S.A. does not control OPEC, and the awakening of China and other nations places a demanding role on dwindling petroleum supplies.

The United States President is being heavily warned that PEAK OIL has already occurred, and the downward spiral of oil reserves is taking place. Nations having an industrial boom is placing a greater strain on these oil reserves. The existing transportation system took one hundred years to build, and can be obsolete "overnight", because there seems to be no other technology that can perpetuate the transportation economy.

The biggest mistake America and the Government made was allowing oil to dominate the transportation sector, and not investing in renewable technologies earlier in the 20th century. A National Security exercise took place, to see just how prepared America was if oil spiked beyond $4.00 dollars a gallon. Over 800,000 jobs would have been lost, and several million people would have starved or been frozen to death.
