Forget about thinking that riding around driving and talking on a cell-phone is cool, you can now read the Newspaper, eat your Meal, watch Movies or Videos, surf the Internet, play Video Games with real intensity, or just plain RELAX!!!

You won't do any of these things in an ordinary automobile unless you are a passenger! The Mini-Van is 6 feet tall, 10.5 feet long and just over 4 feet wide! Because it has a "Flat Pack" compatible design, the floor to ceiling height is 5 feet, much taller than ordinary automobiles! Seating configurations are for up to 3 large adults, or 2 large adults and 2 medium size children.

A Flat Pack design allows the Commuter to load heavy cargo directly into the vehicle without lifting. An example would be a 100 pound woman loading a 550 pound drum in the rear hatch, without lifting or struggling!. The maximum safety load capacity for most Auto-Bicycles is 1000 pounds, a combination of people and cargo. This does not include the actual weight of the Auto-Bicycle.

The JustABike Van is under construction, with versions having a drop-down side door for easy accessibility of a wheelchair, hand-rollers or strollers!

This Prototype Auto-Bicycle (M1.8 version) uses 2 Bicycle tires in the front, automotive tires in the rear, aircraft cockpit steering controls and pistol grip switch functions. The Height is 4'6", Width is 3' and Length is 8' 2".

The tare weight is 485 pounds, including a 150 pound differential and transmission combination. The variable timing regulators synchronized with the ABS- (series 4) magnetic pick-up control assemblies provide a steady positive 0.00+ to Infinity acceleration with .0009 backlash! Torque and Acceleration Performances for the M1.8 gives the Driver a "feeling" that they are riding in a Automobile instead of a "Bicycle!"

The ergonomic comfort that an Auto-Bicycle provides will give you many long hours of riding comfort! An additional 200 pounds must be considered as weight for the Driver, as well as another 300 pounds of cargo or a 600 pound trailer.

 

The side profile of the M1.8 gives the Cyclist the illusion that they are "driving" a Dune Buggy on an Off-Road course! Aside from the actual pedals, the Auto-Bicycle is very distinctive in handling and steering on the road similar to an Automobile.

From the inside, you forget that you are on a "Bicycle". Auto-bicycling uphill is actually very easy, acceleration resistance has minimal impact on the Cyclist, even during a strong wind. The main purpose for the Software combined with the Electronic Control System is to reduce the "strain and effort" required to ride a traditional Bicycle!

Although only one person is in the "Pedal Seat", even in a 3 seater, the effort required to move the Auto-Bicycle has very little to do with the Cyclist's strength. The transmission ratio of Human Energy is maximized by the power applied directly proportional to the thrust regulating the Timing Systems. This has nothing to do with "Strength!" A Governing System built into the Electronic Control System will prevent a "Strong Cyclist" from applying to much force, using a Kick-down Circuit.

Applying to much force without a Governing System would cause the Energy System Server to go into "Hyper Status", a condition that causes uncontrollable acceleration. Unlike Bicycles, Auto-Bicycles are not a "Child's Toy" and must not be driven under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol! Auto-Bicycles are considered to be relatively Heavy Machinery.

The ability to give Commuters the mobility to directly connect with Public Transit Stations can free the Commuters of wasted time standing around for a Bus, Train, Boat, Ferry, or Plane! As more Towns adopt the Auto-Bicycle Station concept, several Auto-Bicycle Stations can be in every City or Town that Mass Transit passes through to make a Point to Point Commuter connection complete. Having Auto-Bicycle Stations in Rural areas where Mass Transit is not practical, will make Commuting much easier to Commuters in these regions. Most Commuters will have the ability to cycle at least within a 20 mile radius of Public Transit Service!

 

The Cyclist in this picture is pulling the Automobile up an inclined grade. Since the Cyclist is not straining to pull the Automobile because of the transfer of power, doing work that usually took an Engine can now be done effortlessly with Human Power. Auto-Bicycles generally weigh about 500 to 1500 pounds empty.

Commercial Auto-Bicycles have Winching Power strong enough to pull a 10,000 pound Dump Truck, provided that the Auto-Bicycle is properly locked down and braced if it is winching Vehicles from a ditch, deep hole, etc.,. On flat land, a Commercial Auto-Bicycle has enough power to pull start a Tractor-Trailer. Auto-Bicycles also come in 1\4 scale Tractor-Trailer versions, with the Tractor being 7 feet tall (including the air foil), 4'5" wide and 10 feet long. The Semi-Trailer is 7 feet tall, 5 feet wide and 25' long. The combined weight for the Tractor-Trailer combination is approximately 4500 pounds empty.

The photo below shows the Tractor-Trailer Auto-Bicycle parked in an actual Trucking Depot. Tractor-Trailer Auto-Bicycle versions usually have a speed range of approximately 25 to 40 miles per hour loaded. The HPV Tractor-Trailer pictured below is 7 feet tall, and 40 feet combined. The Semi-Trailer alone is 30 feet long. Looking at the real semi-trailers in the background which are 8 feet wide, you can get a general idea of about how long the HPV Tractor-Trailer is.

On June 28th 1995, a Human Powered Tractor Trailer was pulled over by Willingboro Township Police officer Robert Lawson, who called for back-up. Police from 8 different communities responded, checking every nut and bolt to see if they could find some kind of engine. They were out of luck, because the Tractor Trailer is strictly Human Powered, and does not require an engine.

Foreign Nations around the world would desperately love to have this kind of Human Powered Technology!! It remains to be seen how Americans favor an advanced technology that does not require fossil fuels, but more so runs on advanced Software and Guideway Systems.

The "REAL FUTURE of SKYWAY TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES!"

(Developing a National Automated Bicycle Skyway Consortium, or "NABSC")

There is a major planning effort being done to develop a "SKYWAY" for Lightweight Vehicles on a Monorail in California. A true concept would seamlessly integrate the Monorail Vehicle System with Ground Transportation Services. The Auto-Bicycle concept already takes this into consideration. The need to keep having Commuters transfer from many different types of Transit Systems would discourage too many people from the beginning. Wasting time standing around waiting is bad enough for most Commuters, especially in foul weather conditions. Various other States are looking into the possibility of incorporating a Skyway System, so a concept that maximizes a Commuters potential to use Mass Transit will encourage its development. The Auto-Bicycle offers all the independence of an automobile without any of the financial, economic, community, and health related drawbacks!

 

Magnetic Levitation (MAG-LEV) Auto-Bicycles on an Automated Skyway System!

The real litmus test of technology over time is demonstrated by "inter-operability" or "universal ability", "multi-dimensional" or "tri-mode" capability, and "interchange-ability". Seamlessly fulfilling the real features of mobility through access to different transit systems, when the mode being used is not practical for meeting the Commuters needs, is a real demonstration of cost effectiveness.

Universal ability among all manufactured Auto-bicycles speeds up the parts replacement process should things go wrong. Tri-Mode capabilities between Transit Systems such as Land, Air and Sea adds a level of luxury beyond one-dimensional Transit Systems such as automobiles, buses or trains. Interchange-ability further adds to the level of luxury by allowing the Commuter to completely change the Auto-Bicycle appearance, not just merely adding a top cover or lifting some panels. The ability for the Auto-Bicycle to "MORPH!" allows the vehicle to expand or contract to get into narrow areas, such as a doorway or past tight traffic jams!

This can occur while the Cyclist is driving the Auto-Bicycle! Automotive and Bicycle Technology has not progressed in 100 hundred years like people believe. The "Status Quo" over time has left civilization far behind what could actually be achieved! Some examples are the "e-BioME-16 System Server", "Bicycle Expressways", Computers, or any other technologies which could have been done years ago, but narrow minded people did not want it so.

A successful Skyway Transportation System must have TRI-MODAL capabilities, letting Commuters freely drive their Auto-bicycles on Land, or Sea, and connecting with the MAG-LEV Automated Bicycle Skyway System when it is convenient for them. Not being sensitive to a Commuter's individual needs is self defeating. This is the problem with current Mass Transit Systems.

A truly Integrated Bicycle Skyway System must also be compatible across the U.S.A., whereas an Auto-Bicycle that drives on a Tri-Mode MAG-LEV New Jersey Bicycle Skyway System can also drive on a Tri-Mode MAG-LEV California Bicycle Skyway System!

This is the only concept that makes practical and financial sense. Imagine if your automobile could only drive on a few selected roads in your State, whereas everyone else's automobile could drive nationally, what would you do with that automobile? Get rid of it or never buy it in the first place!

Across the nation, DOT's, Private Entities and Individuals are spending hundreds of billions of dollars on what they perceive as the highway congestion solution! Not a single one of them has a real clue, or understand the simple fact about America's attitude towards mobility. Americans want "INDEPENDENCE!"

The Auto-Bicycle gives you that independence, far beyond the financial limitations of an automobile! Just like bringing the Computer from industrial use into the home, the same thing is occurring here! Bring the Monorail system to the front door of everyone that wants to use the concept. Don't try to build a network infrastructure that Engineers, Planners and Designers think (in their mind) people will want! All the capital spent on one-dimensional transit systems that are not truly flexible is a costly mistake!

The "BIGGEST MISTAKE" is trying to design a Transit System and projecting ridership. If you design a vehicle that is affordable for everyone to use and ride (like an Auto-Bicycle), and then implement an Ultra High-Speed Ground Track or Skyway Infrastructure based on the volume of vehicles, it is more feasible to project ROI performance.

An Elevated Skyway is well under 1 Million dollars a mile for a Mag-Lev Auto-Bicycle System, while yielding approximately 30,000 Auto-Bicycles an hour on a single 5 foot lane! This is equivalent to twelve 9 foot wide lanes of highway going in a single direction! A Light Rail System can cost anywhere up to 34 Million dollars a mile, and still not yield the capacity of an Auto-Bicycle.

The Auto-Bicycle is a market driven concept. In the first phase, people will have these vehicles driving on the ground while the skyway infrastructure is being developed. When the skyway system is up and running (or renovate obsolete PRT Systems), all the ground vehicles can now utilize the skyway concept!

The Auto-Bicycles are already skyway compatible, and as PRT Systems phase out, their skyway infrastructure can be converted over to Auto-Bicycle Skyway Systems! Until someone has an actual Dual-Mode (in our case Tri-Mode) vehicle, those monorail systems are nothing more than an elaborate train system in the air!

When Commuters figure out that they can have an Auto-Bicycle in their own possession, they will not want to utilize PRT concepts that don't maximize their "INDEPENDENCE!"

The main problem with Trains and Buses from a commuting perspective is the fact that they are impractical to operate unless they have at least 25% of their capacity filled, and they have limited locations. The Auto-Bicycle eliminates energy efficiency waste on the ground, along with future MAG-LEV Automated Bicycle Skyway Systems, because all the mechanisms are on the Auto-Bicycle.

There are no empty Trains or Buses to return to the shop, because all the Commuters take their Auto-Bicycles home! This only leaves the need for the Skyway System to be maintained, and reduces the overall capital cost for the Community or Federal Government to subsidize.

The second phase (Elevated Bicycle Skyways or Automated Mag-Lev Systems) will begin by 2007, or maybe sooner, after the Public and Politicians have seen enough demand for Auto-Bicycles. Building an Elevated Auto-Bicycle Skyway in the Cities for Lightweight Vehicles and Pedestrians is much more cost effective than trying to build other expensive transit investments, and can yield better financial results.

To date, the Auto-Bicycle is the only practical solution to solving the global automotive crisis. What will happen when the world wide economy has not prepared for dwindling oil reserves? The automobile system took 100 years to build! Auto-Bicycles solve the PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) vs. DM (Dual-Mode) debate, because the vehicle already exists!

Today's automobiles are to impractical and inefficient for Skyway or Dual-Mode technologies and electric vehicles are just to far behind technologically! Aside from all the marvelous benefits of Auto-Bicycle technology, these vehicles can far exceed any Environmentalists highest expectations for transportation technology. The manufacturing process is recyclable from the cradle to the grave. There is no need for blending of exotic metals, which are difficult to extract upon dismantling, and hazardous body molded compounds are not essential.

The Auto-Bicycle has no emissions, no leaking greases or oils, no fumes or pollutants that run off the vehicle during a rain storm and produce little or no noise. The particle matter from the tires used on Auto-Bicycles is minimal, because the tires are designed for automobiles (which have a heavier durable compound), and leave less air-borne residue because the tires roll at reduced speeds!

Auto-Bicycles use a fraction of the materials that an automobile requires, to the point that you can make 10 Auto-bicycles from the materials of one large sedan or 14 Auto-Bicycles from a large SUV! If you have two seater Auto-bicycles, that's a total of up to 28 people who can travel in 14 different directions verses 7 large adults in an SUV going in one direction!

One thing Engineers, City Planners, and Governments better figure out quickly, is the fact that automobiles take up enormous amounts of LAND, LAND, LAND, and more LAND! The 14 Auto-bicycles mentioned in the previous paragraph will take the space of 2 SUV's, whereas those same 14 people would require 14 parking spaces if they drove their own automobiles!

This does not include the additional individual 14 passengers! One thing is for sure, the cost of a Single Occupancy Auto-Bicycle (SOA) is far more economically practical than a Single Occupancy Vehicle (SOV), which usually refers to automobiles! Auto-Bicycles (or Sky Bikes), will be a technology that brings forth the beginning of the true "Skyway Age", whereas Auto-Bicycle Technologies advance to a stage that gets Governments, Universities and Corporations worldwide to recognize the feasibility and reality of a National Automated Bicycle Skyway System!

In the next 10 to 20 years, "who will want to stand around waiting for a Bus or Train?" As the realization of mobility for every single American catches on, Public Transit will be OBSOLETE!

When they depart from the Mass Transit Station, they can quickly jump into a pre-dispatched Auto-Bicycle to do more errands and get to their final destination, which can now be many miles away from Public Transportation Services! Using the convenience of this strategic seamless Door-to-Door Public Transportation Service makes owning an automobile a worthless expense. The main feature about Auto-bicycle Commuting would be saving more money or not having to work 80 hours a week just to pay the automobile expenses!

According to schedules posted at various Mass Transit Stations, the Door-to-Door Public Transportation Service can get Commuters to their destinations much faster than an automobile! These factors were based on trips from NYC to Philly, Philly to DC, Trenton to Camden, and Buffalo to Albany.

With the simple implementation of Bicycle Technologies, the U.S. Federal Government can save over $500 Billion Dollars or more annually, according to their own US-DOT and EPA statistics! The money saved from wasted fuel, highway congestion, health related sicknesses and fatalities, environmental dilemmas, urban sprawl, etc., etc., is the return on their financial investment!

By investing and developing the Auto-Bicycle or Skyway Concepts, designed to put lighter Pedestrian and Bicycle traffic on Elevated Platforms in the City and some Suburban areas, allows automobiles and trucks to freely move without obstruction. The initial annual economic savings alone will pay off the cost of the Elevated Skyway in less than one year!

It costs roughly $1 Million Dollars per mile of Elevated Bikeway (Guideway or Skyway), upwards to $10 Million Dollars per mile of automobile lane and approximately $34 Million Dollars per mile for a Light Rail. What makes this scenario in America tragic is the fact that the Bikeway is cheaper and provides more overall economic benefits. Bikeways have the most resistance from a society that is dying because of a sedentary (lay around) lifestyle composed of highly processed fatty foods and using automobiles to drive less than five miles to work on a sunny day!

 

Software, the e-BioME-16 System Server's POWER!

This photograph shows a model of the actual Energy System Server (ESS) that comes built into an Auto-Bicycle. The ESS is unique in that it can store surplus energy during operation to be utilized for operating components, acting pretty much like a battery.
